So Ten Years

2 min read
Here we are almost a full month into 2019, and I only just realized that I've been on deviantArt for 10 years now. I know I haven't been as active in recent years as I was back at the start, but it doesn't really feel like it's been that long.
I've been in a pretty rough place mentally for a while now. After my job drove me to consider suicide, I've been unemployed and staying at home to try to recover. I started exercising lately and I'm going to try eating better and it does seem to make me feel a little better some days.
During the times lately that I feel less empty, I'm trying to work on some notes for that Sonic Underground comic I've mentioned a few times. It's still pretty early in the development stages, but I'm hoping to get at least some of it written and drawn this year.
Maybe I'll manage to draw some other stuff in the mean time. My tablet has been packed up for almost a full year now, but I'm going to try getting everything set up soon so I can at least doodle something.

I guess we'll see, but hopefully I can be more active soon.

... since my last journal entry.

Ha ha... I know I joke all the time about how I'm bad at being active, but it's really pretty true.
Moved to North Carolina back in April and I haven't gotten my art space up yet. I need to get a desk so I can set up a good work area in my room.
I haven't had many finished pieces to upload here, but I am still drawing occasionally. Or even just dredging up old drawings and characters to post on my art tumblr
Pretty much any sketches or unfinished drawings end up on there at some point or another.

I'm actually redesigning a bunch of old characters. Anyone that I decide not to keep will probably go up for adoption at some point, so keep an eye out if you're into that sort of thing.

Uh... In other news, I'm trying to get into doll customization as a hobby. It's something I've been interested in for years, but I'm only just now trying it. I'll be sure to post some pictures of my first finished doll once I can work on her.

So it's been almost 2 weeks now, but I finally got my computer back and it seems to be working alright for now at least. Probably not going to get into anything too time consuming while I wait to see if it's going to stay stable, but I do have a few things I was working on in MS Paint on my mom's laptop that I'm going to try to finish on here now that I have a monitor with a decent display.
Thankfully the repair itself ended up being way cheaper than originally projected. I was expecting to have to shell out about $250 at least, but it wound up being just over $100. Which works out since no one seemed to be interested in any of my reduced price commissions...

EDIT: So I took my computer in for diagnostics. It's going to take a few days to find out exactly what's wrong, but it sounds like at minimum it will take $200 to fix or anywhere up to $600 if the logic board is the problem. At that point, since the computer is 5 years old, it might just be better to buy a new computer. Which again, is going to be expensive. So please, even if you can't afford to help, maybe spread the word?
---------------

So it would seem that the hard drive in my 5 year old MacBook has finally given up the ghost and doesn't want to work anymore. Which means I have probably lost 5 years worth of files, and need to have a new drive installed.
Just briefly looking at estimates online, it's probably going to end up costing me at least $200 to get it up and running again. Assuming there's not some other horrible problem that will make me have to buy a new computer altogether.

So while this also unfortunately means that I can't really use my tablet right now, I kind of need to raise really any money possible because I'll have hardly any money left after getting my computer fixed.
I don't know if anyone would be interested, but I'm going to temporarily offer full-color, shaded drawings for half price.

If you are interested, please note me and I'll try to get back to you when I can.
